Agentic AI Survey: Early Days as Industry Focuses on ROI and Lab Orchestration
The biopharma industry is currently navigating a paradigm shift. Just last year, the core of the digital transformation conversation revolved almost entirely around Gen AI applications and basic data readiness. But much water has flowed under the bridge since then, and the industry’s focus has evolved from basic AI readiness sharply toward “Agentic AI” – autonomous agents capable of reasoning, orchestrating, and executing complex scientific workflows. While the hype around Agentic AI is deafening right now, our recent survey – gathering insights from nearly 500 respondents belonging to over 125 companies — reveals that the industry is very much still at the starting line.
Of course, things are evolving quiet rapidly in this segment. While the goal is always driving better scientific and patient outcomes, the immediate wins organizations are hunting for revolve around efficiency, massive time savings, and unlocking cross-departmental knowledge synthesis. But progress is shadowed by substantial, understandable anxieties.
